As part of our contract with Richmond Council (based in Twickenham) we are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Internal Communications professional. We are looking for someone with ‘get up and go’ attitude, who is enthusiastic about internal communications and marketing and wants to join our small but busy team, managing dynamic results-driven campaigns.

This role will be based in both the Twickenham and Wandsworth offices. We’re looking for an all-rounder who understands the importance of Internal Communications in the early days of the Richmond / Wandsworth councils shared staffing arrangement.

We are looking for someone who can work with two Heads of Communications and deliver an internal communications strategy that focuses on organisation-wide priorities, the organisational development programme and internal promotion of the individual council achievements.

The post holder will manage the regular internal communications channels, (including the e-newsletters), implement relevant internal communications campaigns (including the staff awards), organise events (including the Senior Management Conference) and provide internal communications advice to senior colleagues.

We are looking for someone who likes to keep abreast of new techniques and ways of working through continuous professional development, gathering information on good internal communications practice from other organisations and learning opportunities and making recommendations for improvements.

Successful candidates will bring:

  • Experience of delivering events - with excellent organisation skills
  • Excellent writing skills – able to write across a range of platforms (including the intranet, marketing materials, reports and newsletters)
  • Good understanding of photography, creating video content, and editing.
  • Good understanding of creating e-newsletters using e.g. MailChimp
  • A sound understanding about local government
  • Experience in understanding the needs of audiences and how to target content accordingly.
  • A Passion for innovation and researching emerging trends in internal communications, finding new ways to engage with staff
